Scene Stealers is a performance class for our youngest actors.  This class will work on how to audition, how to rehearse, and how to memorize simple lines and songs for a musical.  This group will perform in BABES IN TOYLAND in December, and then in January begin rehearsing for their showcase production the last week of February.  All Scene Stealers will be invited to audition to perform in our spotlight production of the musical WILLY WONKA performing April 27-29.

The Junior Musical Theatre Company is a performance based class geared for students who are serious about studying the skills and techniques of the musical theatre.  A placement audition is required for these students.  This class is designed for students who have some experience performing and an interest in furthering their training in the performing arts.  This group will perform in BABES IN TOYLAND in December, BREAKFAST WITH SANTA December 3 & 10, and then a full showcase in February.  Junior Musical Theatre Company students are also invited to audition for our Spotlight Production of WILLY WONKA performing April 27-29.

This class is designed for students who have experience performing and an interest in furthering their training in the performing arts.  This group will perform a murder mystery on New Year's Eve, and a full production of THE CRUCIBLE or MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM February 17-19.

This year the companies will participate in a musical production of WILLY WONKA.  Broadway Kids are invited to perform in CHILDREN OF EDEN.

Students who wish to participate in the Junior Musical Theatre, Intermediate Musical Theatre Company, or the Senior Musical Theatre Company must complete a placement audition.  At the audition the Matthews Playhouse staff will determine the student's level of skill and place the student in the company that will best serve his/her talents.  Students who wish to participate in The Acting Company must complete an interview.  Members of the Junior Company and the Intermediate Company will be guaranteed a role in WILLY WONKA.  Members of Broadway Kids and the Senior Musical Company will be guaranteed a role in the musical CHILDREN OF EDEN.  Members of The Acting Company will be guaranteed a role in The Crucible.
All participants in WILLY WONKA, CHILDREN OF EDEN and THE CRUCIBLE will pay an additional $50 costume fee at registration in February, 2012.

  or Thursday, September 8 at 6pm - 8pm.		  
  • Attend the interview for The Acting Company - Wednesday, September 7 at 6pm - 7pm.  
  • At auditions students will be asked to sing, dance, and possibly read from a script.  
 

• A one minute monologue and 16 measures of a song are required for the Senior Musical Theatre Company.
