Frequently Asked Questions for Outdoor Productions
Godspell & The Rainbow Fish Musical

 

Where will the performances take place?
Outdoor performances for both Godspell and The Rainbow Fish Musical will take place at Stumptown
Park (120 S. Trade St. Matthews, NC 28105)

 

What time will performances take place?
Godspell performances will take place on June 4, 5, 6, 12, & 13 at 7:30pm. The Rainbow Fish
performances will take place on June 12 at 9:30am & 11:00am

 

Do I need to reserve a ticket?
Due to limited seating, patrons are strongly encouraged to reserve their tickets ahead of time. Tickets
will be sold as socially-distanced “pods”. There is a current maximum of 200 attendees per performance,
in accordance with current NC and Town of Matthews ordinances. Additional spots will become
available as restrictions are lifted. Accessible pods are available. Tickets can be reserved online at
www.matthewsplayhouse.com

 

Can I purchase my ticket at the door?
We are limiting in-person, day-of ticket sales to encourage social distancing measures. We cannot
guarantee seating for walk-ups.

 

How many people can I have in my pod?
All pods are 8 feet in diameter and with 6 feet of space between each. There is a 2-person minimum and
4-person maximum per pod. Patrons who wish to attend solo will be charged for the 2-person minimum

 

What is the ticket price?
Tickets for Godspell are $10.00 per person. The Rainbow Fish Musical is a free event to attend, but
patrons must still reserve their spots.

 

What is the refund policy?

Given the special nature of these outdoor performances (with pod seating), NO refunds will be given, partially or in full, for these performances.  Our rain & inclement weather policy can be found below.
 

What happens if it rains? The performances will take place rain or shine, unless a washout is imminent. In the case that a performance is cancelled due to inclement weather, patrons will be offered a rain-check ticket for one of our rain-date performances taking place on either June 15 or 16. No refunds will be given if patrons choose to leave during a performance due to weather.

Does my infant/toddler need a ticket?
All patrons, regardless of age, will need to purchase a ticket. All pods, except for the accessible pods, are
located in grass. Large strollers or wagons are discouraged unless they can be folded down to prevent
obstructing the view of fellow patrons.

 

Will seating be provided?
Chairs are not being provided, as this is an outdoor performance in the park. Patrons are strongly
encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets, folding chairs, etc.

 

How long is the performance?
Godspell runs approximately 2 hours. There will be a brief 10-minute intermission.
The Rainbow Fish Musical runs approximately 45 minutes. There will be no intermission.

 

Are face masks required for entry?
We ask that all our patrons follow COVID-19 safety precautions during this event. Face masks are
recommended, especially during entry, exit, queuing in line and whenever you leave your pod or cannot
distance 6 feet from those outside of your group. Matthews Playhouse staff and volunteers will be
masked during the event. Actors will not be masked but will be distanced from the audience.

 

Can I bring my pet with me?
For the safety of our patrons, volunteers, cast and crew, we ask that you please leave your furry friends
at home.

 

Will there be food available for purchase?
We will have a selection of individually-wrapped and bottled concessions available by donation. Please
no coolers or outside food/beverages.

 

Are restrooms available?
Yes, restrooms will be open. We recommend wearing your mask on the way and social distancing while
in line.

 

Where can I park?
Patrons are asked to use the Matthews Community Center, Matthews Elementary School or the First
Baptist Church parking lots. Parking on site at Stumptown is reserved for cast and crew only.

 

Can I switch seats during the performance?
We ask patrons and all members of the group to say in your pod while watching the performance. We
want to minimize movement in the viewing area.

 

Will there be programs/playbills available?
We will have a small supply of physical programs available by request during outdoor performances. A
digital version of the playbill with cast bios, headshots and more information will be available online and
via a scannable QR code.
