Matthews Playhouse School of Theatre productions are cast exclusively with students from our year-long theatre classes. Only students in our classes will appear in these productions, and their performance is a culmination of the training they receive throughout the year. School of Theatre productions typically run 1-2 weekends with both evening and matinee performances.

HONK JR the Musical

March 27th - 28th

Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother's protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out being different is not a bad thing to be.

ANIMAL FARM

March 28th - 29th

This account of a group of barnyard animals who revolt against their vicious human master, only to submit to a tyranny erected by their own kind, is a universal drama. Taking as his starting point the betrayed promise of the Russian Revolution, Orwell lays out a vision that, in its bitter wisdom, gives us the clearest understanding we possess of the possible consequences of our social and political acts.
