Matthews Playhouse of the Performing Arts debuts the regional premiere of Stephen Schwartz's, The Prince of Egypt!

Matthews, NC—Matthews Playhouse of the Performing Arts is thrilled to announce the regional premiere of The Prince of Egypt by Stephen Schwartz. Performing on the Fullwood Auditorium stage from January 16-February 1, 2026. Directed by Tod A. Kubo, Matthews Playhouse invites you to journey through the wonders of Ancient Egypt as Ramses and Moses, two young men raised together as brothers in a kingdom of privilege, find themselves suddenly divided by a secret past. One must rule as Pharaoh, the other must rise up and free his true people; both face a destiny that will change history forever.

Matthews Playhouse is incredibly excited to announce and congratulate the exceptional cast of The Prince of Egypt! We are looking forward to the magic you'll bring to the stage!

Special Performances and Community Impact

In addition to the thirteen regular performances, The Prince of Egypt will feature a "Pay What You Can" performance on Thursday, January 15, at 7:30 pm, with a suggested $10 donation.
