Matthew Diem (Edward Doornale

 

Matthew Diem teaches Latin at Covenant Day School in Matthews. After a long break from acting while he completed a PhD in English at Chapel Hill, he has of late become active on the Charlotte-area community theatre scene, with recent credits at  Matthews Playhouse (Scrooge! The Musical, Around the World in 80 Days), Union County Playmakers (Murder on the Orient Express, Big River, Chasing Charming), Theatre Charlotte (A Christmas Carol), and Fort Mill Community Playhouse (The Curious Savage). Matt is also an aspiring writer, his play "Traces" having been selected last year for Union County Playmakers' 10 Minute Play Festival and his short story "Ajax's Lament" appearing in Arion, a journal published by Boston University.

Zendyn Duellman (Pricilla Doornale

Zendyn Duellman (Pricilla Doornail) is thrilled to once again be entangled in murder and mayhem in Death of a Doornail. World premier credits: Becoming Eleanor, The Night Julie Taymor Cried, Six Postcards, and Waiting for Oprah. Other favorite credits include: Rumors (Cassie Cooper), Clue- On Stage (Mrs. White), Wonder of the World (Cass Harris), Grease (Jan), HMS Pinafore (Buttercup), Into the Woods (Florinda), Phantom of the Opera (Meg Giry), Crimes of the Heart (Chick Boyle), Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge (Ghost: Past/Present/Future). Film/TV: Curfew (Clarice), Dick Kelly (Janelle), Maid of Autumn (Co-worker). Grateful thanks to Pamela, the cast, and the creative team for this murderous adventure.

Mary Lynn Bain (Candace Bambay)

Mary Lynn Bain is a Drama Teacher at Old Courthouse Theatre.

When she is not adapting scripts and teaching, Mary says she enjoys true crime shows, books with unhinged female leads, reading, painting, and working out. Previous credits include Morticia Addams in "Addams Family" at Old Courthouse Theatre, Anne Sullivan in "Miracle Worker" at Old Courthouse Theatre, Charwoman in "A Christmas Carol" at Theatre Charlotte, and Eloise Bridgerton in "The Bridgerton Experience" at Cape Fear Regional Theater.

Andrew C. Roberts, also known as Drew or Andy, began his thespian career in high school and has since gained experience in both acting and technical support roles. His acting credits include stage roles in various plays and musicals, voiceover work, and film extras.

Jeff Powell (Salvator Carbone)

 

Jeff is thrilled to bring theater to you in the MPH: Community Series. You might have seen him most recently as the high-flying Jacob Marley in “Scrooge: The Musical” at MPH, or as the jolly Christmas Present in past years. Another MPH favorite was Luther Billis in “South Pacific”. His first stage role was Charlie Cowell in “The Music Man” at MPH, so he considers MPH his home theater and is always honored to be a part of projects there.

Amy Pearre Dunn (Abigail Doornale

Amy Pearre Dunn is a Charlotte-based actor who is happy to be performing again with old and new friends at Matthews Playhouse. Her local theatre credits include productions with Theatre Charlotte, Three Bone Theatre, and CPCC Theatre, among others. Amy holds a BA in Theatre Arts from Appalachian State University and has trained in performance, improvisation, and scene study throughout the Southeast.

Mike Hahalyak (Inspector Bukowski)

 

Mike Hahalyak (Inspector Bukowski) previously appeared in ‘Death and Deceit on the Nile’ at Matthews Playhouse. He would like to thank Matthews Playhouse for a second chance. A new native of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Mike is a graduate of Wheaton College and the Juilliard School. He left New York at the end of 2024. He would like to thank his friends, his family, and God for their love and support.

David A. Gwilt (Stage Manager/Surprise Guest)

David is very happy to have been cast in ‘Death of a Doornail’ (Albert Doornale), his first performance with Matthews Playhouse Dinner Theatre. David has been on stage many times, including with Waxhaw Community Theatre, Union County Playmakers and Ft. Mill Community Theatre. He has appeared in ‘Communicating Doors’, ‘The Curious Savage’, ‘Night of January 16th’, ‘Day the Internet Died’, ‘Angel Street’, ‘Not Now Darling’, ‘Belling the Cat’, and ‘Love Letters’.

David is the owner of Carolinas Flooring. He resides harmoniously in Lancaster, SC, with his several alter-egos.

Anthony Pandolfo (Understudy)

 

Anthony Pandolfo is happy to appear as Edward in Death of a Doornail. His work includes Hank in ’Til Beth Do Us Part, Truscott in Loot, Don John in Much Ado About Nothing, Juror #3 in 12 Angry Men, and Reverend Hale in The Crucible. A humanist, humorist, and determinist (which he cannot help), Anthony is drawn to sharp dialogue, escalating misunderstandings, and comedy rooted in things going terribly wrong—or maybe that’s just regular life. He will perform for muffins and thanks the cast and director for their generosity and good humor.
