Teen Apprenticeship Opportunity (Ages 16-18)
People giving a high five

Do you have a teen who enjoys working with younger children and wants to gain real-world leadership experience? Matthews Playhouse is offering a unique, unpaid apprenticeship opportunity for students ages 16–18 who are interested in assisting with our Homeschool Arts Program on Tuesday afternoons.

Apprentices will play a vital role by:

  • Greeting students and helping them feel welcome

  • Distributing name tags and assisting with sign-in

  • Supervising snack and break times

  • Helping with transitions between activities

  • Leading games and group activities with energy and enthusiasm

This is a fantastic opportunity for teens to:

  • Earn volunteer hours for school, clubs, or community service

  • Strengthen college and scholarship applications with meaningful experience

  • Develop leadership, responsibility, and communication skills

  • Make a positive impact on younger students

We are happy to provide letters of recommendation or official documentation of volunteer hours upon request.

  • Interested students should email education@matthewsplayhouse.com by September 1 with a brief essay (one paragraph is fine!) explaining why they’d be a great fit for this role. Selected applicants will be contacted for a short interview.

  • Please Note: This is an unpaid leadership position, best suited for students seeking mentorship, experience, and community involvement—not a paid job.
