What to Expect

This class introduces young performers to storytelling through movement, music, and imaginative play.

Students build foundational theatre skills:

  • Listening and focus

  • Following direction

  • Imaginative storytelling

  • Confidence in group settings

This is a developmentally appropriate introduction to performing arts designed to build comfort, confidence, and joy on stage.

Students will also participate in Benny and the Jett: The Musical, where all performers are featured as part of the ensemble cast. Step into a gentle, imaginative world where friendship takes center stage. Benny and the Jett: The Musical follows Benny, a dog who believes he’s a boy, and his best friend Jett, who is perfectly content being a dog. Together, they embark on a big day filled with music, movement, and moments of courage as they discover what it means to shine in their own way.

Through playful scenes, ensemble songs, and expressive movement, this original musical celebrates confidence, empathy, and supporting one another—even when friends are different. Designed especially for TK–2nd graders, the production gives every student the opportunity to participate, explore character, and experience the joy of performing as part of a group.

Production Experience

Students will participate in a fully staged theatrical production where every performer is featured as part of the ensemble cast. Through rehearsal, collaboration, and performance, students experience the excitement of bringing a story to life on stage with costumes, lighting, and professional production support.

Spring Production Commitment
(Required Participation)

Because this is a performance-based program, participation in the February–March production period requires full commitment from all cast members.

Students and families must carefully review the following requirements:

  • Students may miss a maximum of TWO rehearsals total during the production period

  • Students may NOT miss ANY Tech Week rehearsals under any circumstances, except documented illness or family emergency

  • Illness and family emergencies will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis

  • Students must be fully available for all scheduled performances

  • Performance conflicts cannot be accommodated once casting is finalized

If a student is unable to attend Tech Week for any reason other than documented illness or family emergency, they may be removed from the production.

A mandatory parent information meeting will be held prior to rehearsals.
