One week. One showcase. One big theatre experience!

Homeschool Theatre Intensives are five-day theatre experiences designed for homeschool students who want to spend a focused week creating, collaborating, rehearsing, and performing together. Students will explore acting, music, dance, theatre games, and ensemble work before sharing what they have created with family and friends in a Friday afternoon showcase on the Matthews Playhouse mainstage.

Tuition
$350 for the full five-day intensive.

What to Expect
  • Monday–Friday, 12:30–3:30 p.m.

  • Family and friends are invited to a Friday showcase at 3:00 p.m.

  • Acting, music, dance, theatre games, rehearsal, and ensemble work

  • Mainstage theatre experience

  • Professional theatrical elements including set, lighting, and sound

  • Costume pieces provided; students will be required to provide a base costume

  • Grades 3–12 / approximately ages 8–18

  • Welcoming to both new and experienced theatre students

The Showcase

Each intensive is designed around the students who are enrolled. This is not a full production of a single show. Instead, the teaching team will select and shape age-appropriate material based on the group's ages, experience, strengths, and overall composition.

Students will experience the process of exploring material, being cast, rehearsing, memorizing, incorporating production elements, and preparing for a final showcase — all within one focused week.

Who Can Participate?

The program is open to homeschool students in Grades 3–12, approximately ages 8–18. Students should be comfortable reading independently and working with a script.

Because homeschool grade levels and experiences vary, age, reading ability, theatre experience, and group composition may all be considered when shaping the week's material.

Commitment

Because students are working toward a final showcase, commitment to attend all five days is required. Please review your calendar carefully before registering. We understand that illness and unexpected circumstances happen, but we are seeking students who can commit to the full five-day experience.
