Do you want to master the art of being “in the moment”? Are you ready to take your
performance skills to the next level? Using Sanford Meisner’s approach, you will cultivate stage
presence while exploring what it is like to live truthfully in every moment. Whether you’re an
improviser looking to sharpen your acting skills or a theater artist looking to hone your authentic
response, this course will offer a transformative journey into the heart of really being in the
moment.
Sanford Meisner’s approach to acting is the perfect blend of acting technique mixed with the
spontaneity of improvisation. Through a series of interactive exercises, ensemble activities, and
scene work, we’ll explore:

Living in the Now: Learn practices that will help you stay sharp and present on and offstage.

Active Listening: Hone your ability to truly listen and respond, allowing each moment to
unfold naturally without any preconceived ideas; thus, making each performance fresh. -
Authentic Character Development: Develop rich characters grounded in the reality of
you. Discover how to craft characters that are authentic to you. -
Emotional Prep: Explore safe ways of emotional preparation to activate any scene.

Scene Work: Apply Meisner’s techniques to improvised scenarios and scripted scenes, sharpening your ability to embody characters while truly acting in the moment.

Prerequisites

No prior experience is required. Participants should come to the course with an open mind, awillingness to take risks, and a commitment to active participation.
