A New Adventure for June Bayless

Forever Thankful

After serving the Matthews Community and Matthews Playhouse for over 25 years, June Bayless is stepping aside as the Executive and Artistic Director of Matthews Playhouse.

Beginning in September 2021, June will become the Executive Advisor for the Playhouse. She will work remotely from her new home in California and will return periodically to direct and/or teach a class. After founding the Playhouse in 1995 as a Children's Theatre, Matthews Playhouse has grown to a full year-round theatre for all ages. Seasons now include full length musicals and plays for adults as well as children's shows, classes, and summer camps.

June is eternally thankful to the Matthews area for embracing the Playhouse and supporting theatre arts for children and adults in the community. June noted, "It has been a privilege to work for and with the Town of Matthews, its Mayors, Town Council, Staff and many volunteers for the Playhouse through the years."

June will return next year in the Spring 2022 for a celebration of her time with the Playhouse. Look for further information on this event in the coming weeks and months.
