Calling All Actors! Here Are The Auditions Dates For Our 2022-2023 Season!

We Are Kicking Off Our 2022-2023 Season Auditions With Princess Fearless on July 25 2022!
As a community based theatre committed to excellence and top-quality productions, it is our mission to invite children, adults, to participate in the performing arts regardless of their background and experience level. We believe that theatre is for all to enjoy, so we have selected a season that reflects that belief.
Therefore, it is our pleasure to announce the auditions for our 2022-2023 Season! We’re kicking things off straight away with auditions for the regional premiere of Princess Fearless, a one-act play for young people written by local playwright, author, and actor Keetha B on Monday July 25, 2022. The show will be directed by Rahsheem Shabazz. We are looking for a diverse cast of young people ages 10 and up and adults (a small stipend will be provided for actors over the age of 18 for the daytime performances).
Mrs Smith: African American, age 30s to 40s
Jeremy: Caucasian American, age 10
Elizabeth/Liz: Brazilian American or AfroLatina, age 10
Keidra: African American, age 10
Louise/Lou: African American, age 10
Danielle/Dee: African American, age 10
Mom/Mrs Miller: African American, age 30s to 40s
Mrs. Wickerman: African American, age 70s
Jocelyn: Caucasian American, age 10
Javier/Javi: Puerto Rican, age 10
Principal Yang: Tiawanese American, age 40s to 50s
Vovó/ Liz’s Grandma: Brazilian, age 60s to 70s
Ensemble 6 additional kids. More may be added as necessary
Important Details to Note
Performance Dates are September 23-October 2, 2022. Rehearsal schedule and other details can be viewed on our Audition Page.
Please be prepared to do a cold read from sides/script excerpts during the audition. If you have prepared a monologue or would like to read a one-minute piece as part of your audition, you are welcome to do so, though it is not required.
Actors will need to show proof of full vaccination against Covid-19, as we will be rehearsing and performing in close proximity to one another. Please provide a digital copy of your vaccination card with your audition form.
Please Sign Up for an Audition Spot and submit either an Adult Audition Form (for actors 18 and over) or a Child Audition Form. You will have the opportunity to attach an optional resume and/or headshot with the audition form.

Directors and additional details about each show will be announced at a later date. Unless otherwise noted, auditions, rehearsals and performances will take place at the Matthews Community Center, 100 E McDowell Street, Matthews, NC.
