Matthews Playhouse to Offer Performing Arts Camp in New Locations This Summer!

(Matthews, NC) Since launching in 1995, Matthews Playhouse of the Performing Arts has introduced the magical world of theatre, creativity and self-discovery to tens of thousands of children in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg and Union County regions and beyond. Through consistent high-level programming, Matthews Playhouse has developed a reputation as one of the top summer performing arts camps in the region. Due to popular demand, the theatre plans to expand its quality performing arts programming to new locations.

For the first time this summer, children will now have the opportunity to experience Matthews Playhouse Summer Camp in neighboring communities, including Waxhaw and Indian Trail.

Matthews Playhouse Executive Director, Sarah Baumgardner, says offering performance opportunities and building self-confidence in children is one of the pillars of the theatre’s mission. “Matthews Playhouse summer camps have long been regarded as an asset to the local community,” says Baumgardner. “We are on a mission to extend opportunities to students of all ages and backgrounds in a fun and supportive atmosphere regardless of where they live.” Studies have linked the performing arts to increased confidence, independence, social skills, elevated creativity and greater capacity for critical thinking in children.
