Matthews Playhouse of the Performing Arts is ready to take audiences on one of the greatest adventures ever written when it presents Around the World in 80 Days, February 22 through March 3, 2024. This action-packed production, based on the iconic book written by Jules Verne, is sure to please audiences from all generations as beloved characters like Phileas Fogg, Passepartout and Detective Fix come to life on stage.
As part of our mission to make the arts more accessible, we have added a sensory-friendly performance of the production that has been modified for neurodivergent audience members with sensory sensitivities at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Some of the features in the Sensory Friendly performances will include:
Lower sound and light levels.
A guide to warn audience members of potentially startling or loud sounds.
Dim lighting in the seating area that will remain on for the duration of the performance.
Designated quiet and calm spaces for audience members to utilize as needed.
Permission for audience members to stand, roam around, and come and go as needed.
Designated quiet and calm spaces will be available to audience members as needed.
Audience members are also welcome to bring certain items that provide comfort (cushions, headphones, electronics, snacks, and other support items).
